Athletes foot is a fungal infection, known as Tinea Pedis, that grows in damp sweaty environments. This is a common condition that occurs in many runners that can be very irritating to deal with. To treat the infection, begin by washing your foot, making sure to wash and dry the areas between the toes. Apply a thin layer of an anti-fungal medication to the affected area as directed on the label. Most over-the-counter anti-fungal medication can take up to two weeks to heal completely. If you are not sure which medication to use, or if the over-the-counter medication is not working, contact your podiatrist.
In addition to treating the infection on your feet, you should also treat your shoes. Having fungus in your shoes will cause you to reinfect yourself after the Athletes foot has cleared up. Spraying your shoes with a disinfectant spray, such as Mycomist, will allow the fungus to be controlled and will help to prevent the infection for reoccurring.

Apartment Building Burns and Asbestos is Revealed by Joe Silver
After an apartment building in Houston burned down, residents are now being told that much of their belongings are infested with asbestos.
After four months of living with relatives and wearing donated clothing, the tenants are discovering that the items that served as a remaining connection to their home may be contaminated.
According to reports, 61 of the apartments in the fire could be contaminated with asbestos and the Houston Housing Authority doesn't have the funds to clean these items.
The fire was reportedly started by a candle that was left burning in one of the apartments.
Since repair work is scheduled to begin in the next couple of days, tenants are being asked to gather the belongings they left behind.
"It's unfair," explained Angela Ho, 78, who is a former resident of the apartment complex. "We were not at fault. We don't have any money. They (the housing authority) need to take responsibility."
Regina Woolfolk, who is the authority's vice president of external affairs, says that the agency will pay to clean "non-porous" items.
However, its insurance isn't willing to pay to remove asbestos fibers that may be imbedded in the tenants clothing and furniture.

Since 2001, the chemical maker has been under Chapter 11 protection after being bombarded with claims for damages due to toxic products.
Wednesday, Denver, Colo.-based lawyers for the U.S. Department of Justice environmental enforcement section said several government agencies had agreed to settle claims filed in Grace's bankruptcy case.
Terms of the bankruptcy settlement grant the United States a general unsecured claim of $34 million in Grace's Chapter 11 case, and a top-level priority claim of $2.3 million, court documents say.
The proposed deal, which will be floated for public comment, would cancel bankruptcy claims seeking to recoup the costs of eradicating contamination from 33 sites filed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Department of Agriculture, the U.S. Department of the Interior, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Grace is far from exiting bankruptcy, but has said it will be able to cover all debts in full. Hearings are slated to start in January on how much Grace owes people with injuries linked to its asbestos products. The outcome of that proceeding will determine whether the company can make good on its pledge to pay all bills or whether, as asbestos plaintiffs' lawyers contend, Grace's asbestos damages exceed the value of the company.
